a bit of shopkeeping

You probably know by now that we are expecting a baby girl to arrive in about, oh 3 or 4 weeks. :) (so excited!)

With that in mind, I realized that I'm going to need to take some time away from the shop! I've got some help lined up for while I'm away (such a relief for me to have that checked off of my to do list!), but have decided to temporarily discontinue the silhouettes. I'm hoping to offer them again the first 2 weeks of December (that depends on how adjustment with the new little one is going, though), and then discontinue them until the new year.

Sooooo, if you want one for a Christmas gift (for yourself or someone else), now is the time to order!

You'll have from now until October 31.

p.s. You might like to know - the silhouette prices will be increasing slightly starting the first of the year (so it's an added incentive to order as soon as you can!)

Grandparent's Day is coming!

In the U.S. it is on September 9  - just around the corner! For my readers in other countries I am curious, do you have a Grandparent's Day where you live?

Some of the most popular gift items in the shop are the 5 x7 and 8 x10 silhouettes. Mommies and aunties ordered them in droves last fall in preparation for Christmas!

This year though, we are expecting our Little One to arrive in early November, so I have decided to temporarily discontinue the silhouettes during November (so that I can focus on Baby!) and possibly December as well.
What's this mean for you? If you want one (or a few), order early! And what better time to order than as a gift for Grandparent's Day, hmm? : )

Here is a link that will easily get you to the silhouette section in my shop: silhouettes and if you have any questions or ideas, feel free to email me through Etsy, leave a comment here or email me at path.less.traveled.market@gmail.com.

And have a lovely day!

Etsy Kids

I got such a happy surprise last night - the parent and child silhouette is on the Etsy Kids Father's Day feature!
It was quite fun to click over and see John and Emma Grace there with the other darling items, and totally made my night.

What about you? What has been your happy surprise recently?

hello again : )

It's June 23 and Summer has officially been here for 2 days. And I haven't blogged since May 14 - yikes!

I had every intention of posting a new silhouette in the shop for Father's Day, using the one that I was making as John's gift as the example. Um .... I got his done on Father's Day afternoon. Definitely not in time to post.
His dessert this year was a Strawberry Upside-down Cake (recipe from here) and it was delicious. : )

Emma had seconds. : )

Blurry, but the best shot of John and the little ones from the day.

Father's Day was relaxed, fun and John got showered with loves from our children. He's such a wonderful daddy, and their love is proof of that!

So, yes, I have plans to post about all that I've been doing during the silence on this blog. And it's been a lot!

funky DIY silhouettes

Design*Sponge featured an article yesterday with a tutorial on how to make your own framed (and funky) silhouettes. The ones they pictured were of birds and so on, but the same process would look great as a personalized gift for a loved one - maybe of your kids or of theirs?

Today in the wonderful world of Etsy ...

The shop has been doing well the past few weeks and the little bit of added income has been really nice, especially with Christmas coming up.
Today I'm branching out just a little though, testing and putting my virtual toe into the water.
Today I'm trying out something new, something fun, something that I hope does very, very well.
Today some of the things from my shop are in the Etsy Weddings Showcase.

Etsy showcases are always fun to browse through - kind of like a virtual craft fair :) - and I decided to buy a space and give it a shot!
So, I'm excited about it. We'll see what happens!

How about you? Do you have an online shop for the works of your hands? Have you found an effective way to promote it?
